Direct-to-Film (Also known as DTF) printers are a type of wide format printers that utilizes cutting edge technology to create transfers. It starts by printing specially formulated inks. First color, followed by white ink that acts as a base. After that it is fed down into a machine that shakes a hot melt adhesive powder onto it. It is then pulled through a conveyor dryer that cures the ink and power, fusing them together. Then all you have to do is heat press it on! Although DTF is relatively new to the industry, it’s become a breakthrough technology that has been fine tuned and made extremely easy for the person doing the pressing. The end result is a high quality, beautiful, long lasting print that the end user loves.
